This is my favorite type of massage to provide. This bodywork differs from a general relaxation massage, yet complements it beautifully. NMT focuses on specific problem areas, addressing imbalances between the nervous and muscular systems through precise, static pressure, and improving flexibility and posture. Many clients who recieve this treatment rave about it and tell me how "different" it is and yet incredibly theraputic.
The goal of Cranio Sacral massage is to improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid helping regulate the body's natural rhythms. By doing this, your body can heal itself, which can help relieve pain and stress. CS releases the restrictions that are felt during massage. Craniosacral is essential for the health of the nervous system. A deep relaxation happens with this technique.
Swedish massage is the most well-known form of massage therapy. It is practiced worldwide and is known for its long, gliding strokes and kneading to increase blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, and promote overall well-being.
Deep tissue massage is not what you may be thinking it is. Deep tissue doesn't mean push harder, deeper, and give "pain". No. In fact, it is a very slow and methodical approach to engage the "deep" muscles that are layered within the body. When your body is relaxed and trusts me enough, I can access those muscles that are often difficult to reach. Deep tissue should be done with respect and time. If you are looking for me to give you "pain" or give more pressure, I will not be a good fit for your needs.
I guide you to tune into your body's sensations and what you are experiencing. Somatic bodywork focuses on the interconnectedness of the mind and body, recognizing that emotional experiences and trauma are stored as physical sensations and tension. Somatic bodywork is a practice that typically uses gentle touch, movement, and body-based awareness. This form of bodywork has the capacity to be incredibly healing for the mind and body. I often recommend this treatment as an enhanced tool to complement talk therapy; however, it is not necessary or a requirement.
A trigger point is typically believed to be a "knot" in the muscle fiber, which can cause referred pain (when you feel pain elsewhere but the trigger point is in a helper muscle). I typically like trigger point therapy as the pain that feels good when direct pressure is applied.
This is a gentle form of massage to relieve symptoms like pain, anxiety, and stress in individuals with serious or life-threatening illness, enhancing their quality of life rather than treating the underlying issues. It is a comforting approach.
